Newborn Photo Shoot in Olympia, Washington

“I keep tissues in the studio for the parents who get overwhelmed.” Because it happens! And honestly, it’s one of my favourite parts of newborn photography.

Those first days are tiny and fast. A newborn photo shoot is your chance to slow time down for a moment and preserve the details you’ll forget quicker than you think.

What a newborn photo shoot captures

Newborn photography can be softly posed, more natural and candid, or a mix of both. Most families choose a blend, because it tells the full story.

We’ll capture the tiny details, the calm moments, and the connection. Parents holding baby. Siblings meeting baby. The kind of images that feel like your family, not a photoshoot.

When to book your newborn session

The best time to reach out is during pregnancy, even if you don’t feel ready. We reserve a space around your due date, then schedule the exact session once baby arrives.

Already had your baby? You haven’t necessarily missed your chance. Send a message and we’ll look at what’s possible based on your baby’s age and your family’s needs.

A newborn session that feels calm, not stressful

Newborn life is a lot. You’re tired, your brain is full, and the days can feel like one long loop of feeding and settling.

That’s why the studio is set up to make this easy. It’s warm, comfortable, and baby-led. We build in time for feeds, cuddles, nappy changes, and pauses. No one is watching the clock. No one is judging you. We just take it gently.

Safety and comfort come first

Your baby’s comfort is the priority in every single setup. If your little one prefers being wrapped, held, or needs extra settling time, we follow their lead.

If you have any worries at all, tell me. I’d rather talk it through properly than have you quietly stressing on the day.

"I hired Amber for maternity and newborn photos. They turned out absolutely beautiful! She had a nice inviting studio with tons of different dresses for my maternity shoot that I could use (I appreciated that!) she was creative and we included my other two children in some photos. When my daughter was born and we did newborn photos, she had the studio nice and warm for baby, had so many different adorable props and really took her time. She didn’t mind when baby woke up and needed to be fed and put back to sleep. We did individual newborns as well as our family photos. I loved them all! Editing and delivery was right on schedule which was an added bonus. Absolutely worth the price!"

What to bring and how to prepare

Keep it simple

For parents and siblings, neutral tones photograph beautifully and keep the focus on your baby. Soft textures work well, too.

Bring the basics

Milk, a dummy if you use one, spare nappies, wipes, and anything that helps baby settle. If you have a sentimental item you want included, bring it along.

Sibling plan

If siblings are joining, we’ll plan their photos early so they can relax afterwards. It keeps the session smoother for everyone.

Studio props, wraps and outfits are provided

You don’t need to buy anything for the photos. The studio is fully stocked with wraps, outfits, hats, headbands, props, and backdrops for your session.

If you want something more timeless and minimal, we can keep it very clean and simple. If you love a bit more styling, we can do that too.

Serving Olympia, Tacoma, Seattle and JBLM

The studio is located in Olympia, WA, and families travel in from Tacoma, Seattle, and Joint Base Lewis McChord for newborn sessions.

If you’re coming from further out, I’ll help you plan timing so it feels manageable, especially in those early days.
